With each passing day, more and more people are discovering what Grand Prairie’s newest developing project along George Bush Freeway is all about. Some might have heard that there is going to be a waterpark, while others might have only heard rumblings of a recreation facility. Many residents of DFW aren’t at all aware of the exciting new venture that will be coming together before the end of the year. Not only will this become the epicenter of activities and fun, attracting residents from cities near and far, but Grand Prairie will become THE place for recreation, leisure, and memories for many years to come.
The area west of State Highway 161 (George Bush Freeway) and across the lake from the Public Safety building is called Grand Central. Featured within these 172 acres will be:
- The Epic, the state-of-the-art health/wellness/life enrichment center, will house 110,000 square feet of recreation, learning, and discovery with a theater, music studio, spa, adventure track, culinary arts kitchen, library, and so much more. This is not just an event or recreation space – It will be a part of so many individuals’ daily lives.
- Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark, just walking distance from The Epic, is an incredible 80,000 square foot indoor/outdoor, open year-round waterpark with a beautiful curved, retractable roof. Referred to as a “cruise ship on land,’ there will be something for every member of your family. Nine waterslides are featured on the waterpark’s slide tower, and three of these slides are ‘first of their kind’ within the waterpark industry. An outdoor wave pool will be sure to excite, as well as birthday parties, private rentals, and events that will be held year-round.
- The Summit, which has been in full-swing operation since June 2010 is a beautiful $23 million dollar 60,000 square foot facility located in Central Park, which was designed specifically for active adults ages 50 and older. Fitness areas, a gym, an indoor infinity edge pool with lap lanes & exercise vortex, locker rooms with a sauna, cafe, theater, and ballrooms with gorgeous lake views make this a one-of-a-kind facility.
- PlayGrand Adventures is an inclusive playground catered to children and adults of all abilities. Sitting on 10 acres, this phenomenal playground fills a need for all-accessible recreation inclusion in DFW, and creates a platform for socialization and joy for all.
Walking/jogging/biking trails, an amphitheater for entertainment, as well as the Grand Lawn for outdoor activities are just additional perks and facets to this incredible new addition to Grand Prairie.
As of right now, Annual Passes are on-sale for Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark. Open about 340 days of the year, Annual Passes are the best way to experience weather-proof fun all year long, regardless of the temperature outside! Within the coming months, there will be an Annual Pass that will include admission to both Epic Waters and The Epic. When these passes go on-sale, an announcement will be made via email blasts, Epic Waters website, and social media channels. Epic Waters, as well as The Epic, will be rolling out passes and admission packages over the next few months.
Thank you for continuing to help us spread the word about Grand Central in Grand Prairie, TX. This is such an incredible addition to both the citizens of Grand Prairie and to the citizens of Dallas-Fort Worth.
“It’s gonna be EPIC!”
