We are very excited to welcome a new face to our team—our marketing intern, Hayley Copeland!
For the next four months, Hayley will be working with our team on all marketing initiatives, so keep an eye out for her at special events, on our social channels, email, and blog posts!
Internships allow us to give young aspiring professionals a look inside both the working world, as well as all of the fun that comes with working in a hospitality and entertainment environment. Interns also keep us on our toes. Fresh faces often bring new ideas to the table, and help us see something that we look at every day in a whole new light.
Our Director of Marketing & Events, Chelsey Lamar says, “There is something new to learn each and every day. And learning is not a one-way street. Hayley will learn from the Executive Team, while the team will learn from Hayley, as well!” She goes on to say, “I truly believe that if you’ve found a role in which you’re learning, growing, and having fun while doing so, you’ll really never “work.” This industry is always growing, always improving, and is full of days that entail hard-work, but what we gain in the end makes it all worth it. An internship will only help the individual grow and spread their wings.”
On Hayley’s first day in the office, we got a chance to learn a little bit more about her, and we’d love to share a small part of her story with you as well.
Where are you from?
I am from Grand Prairie; however my school district growing up was Arlington ISD. I attended West Elementary, Barnett Jr High, and Bowie High School.
What university are you currently attending, and what are you studying?
I am currently attending Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. My major is in Communication studies with a concentration in Public Relations and Event Management and a minor in Business.
What is your favorite thing about your university?
Most people think I’m crazy for going to college in such a small town, but there’s just something in that Stephenville water that made me fall in love. The spirit of the student body at Tarleton is unlike any other. Everyone has pride in our traditions and the school spirit is amazing. It’s got that hometown feel with southern hospitality and welcoming arms. Plus, Stephenville is the Cowboy Capital of the world. I will forever bleed purple!
What are you plans after graduation next year?
Plan #1 is to come back to my hometown of Grand Prairie. I’ll probably move in with my parents temporarily to save money. However, I do plan to come back and settle permanently here.
How did you hear about Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark?
I try to stay up to date on everything that goes on in my hometown, but the first advertisement I saw was at Prairie Lights. I couldn’t believe that something so “epic” was becoming a reality!
What are you hoping to bring to Epic Waters through this internship?
I’ve always been a good team player and I’m very flexible in any environment that I am in. I love being able to collaborate with different personalities and I feel strongly that my ability to work in any situation or time constraint will be beneficial for the Epic. I also want to be that fun, bright and easy going worker that anyone can relate to.
What are you hoping to learn from this internship?
I want to grow a greater sense of professionalism. I would love to be able to better navigate the working world in an office atmosphere. Also, I want to be able to grow my networking possibilities and references.
What do you like the most about the marketing world?
I love that there are so many different career opportunities within the marketing world, whether it’s social media, events, public relations, or promotions. No matter the job, without marketing there would be no way to effectively sell an idea or a product.
What do you like most about Grand Prairie?
I love where Grand Prairie is located. It’s right in the middle of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and there’s always something to do. You have your perfect mixture of young families who are new to the area, combined with the generations of families who have been here for years. There’s always something grand happening!
Where is one place in the world that you’d like to visit?
Australia- laid back on the beach with my toes in the sand. I don’t think it gets any better than that!
Tell us three fun facts about yourself:
1. Since I was little, my dream was to be a waitress and live in an apartment. Funny how times change.
2. I was the girl’s arm wrestling champion in junior high.
3. I was voted senior class favorite in high school and received the “most likely to make you smile” award.
If you could be any color crayon, what would you be and why?
It’s a tie between Razzmatazz and Tickle Me Pink.
Tickle me Pink is sweet, friendly, and loves to laugh. On the other hand, Razzmatazz is unique and fierce.
What movie title would you use to describe your personality?
Gone with the Wind- Don’t hold back chasing your dreams, and always live life a little on the adventurous side.
