Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark, set to open this November in Grand Prairie, Texas, continues to hit construction and development milestones each day. The waterpark is part of a complex called Grand Central, which is Grand Prairie’s epicenter for recreation and fun. This completed project will be enjoyed by the citizens of Grand Prairie, as well as citizens from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and beyond! For years to come, many can enjoy all that Grand Central and Grand Prairie have to offer.
Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark, an 80,000 square foot indoor/outdoor waterpark, will be one of America’s most unique city-owned waterparks. American Resort Management, based out of Erie, Pennsylvania, will be overseeing the management and operation of the waterpark. Epic Waters will feature three “first of its kind” attractions, multiple family-friendly attractions and pools, several party rooms, an outdoor wavepool, a 4,000 square foot arcade, a full-service bar, cabanas, and more. All sitting beneath a state-of-the-art retractable roof, Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark will be region’s favorite year-round family fun destination.
Already a visible icon on the Grand Prairie skyline, the roof’s cupola can be seen for miles around. Grand Prairie residents have watched with excitement over the past few months as OpenAire’s enclosure has taken shape. OpenAire, based in Ontario, Canada, designs, manufactures, and installs the world’s most reliable and elegant retractable roof systems and skylights.
From inside this tower, some of the country’s tallest and boldest waterslides will excite guests of all ages. Since the completion of the eighty-three foot tall cupola, the OpenAire team has been installing the thirty-six motorized operable roof panels, plus four operable panels above the cupola, which will open to the sunlight and fresh air in summertime, but close quickly during cold or inclement weather.
After months of installing the aluminum structure, the glazing process is underway, as well as the completion of the roof. OpenAire continues to progress quickly with the lifting and placement of the retractable roof panels, which will be completed very soon.
The fiberglass waterslide pieces from WhiteWater West are also starting to be installed. The initial additions of the curved slide pieces in bright colors have already made a huge impact on the appearance of the building and the overall Grand Central park area. Pieces of fiberglass are being installed each day, and are a vivid, colorful reminder to those individuals driving by on the highway of what the building will be when completed.
WhiteWater is the leader in designing and manufacturing complete waterparks and attractions all over the world for 35 years. They have created a unique, exciting package of waterslides for Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark, and three of the slides will be the first of their kind in the waterpark industry: The Lasso Loop, the nation’s tallest indoor Aqualoop; the Yellowjacket Drop, the first fusion inner tube slide, and the Aquanaut, the first double-rider Aquasphere ride.
Each day, different areas of the waterpark take shape. The lazy/crazy river, which will feature periodic waves, continues concrete construction seamlessly with the second quadrant now fully poured-in-place.
